3.3. Achievements
3.3.1. Functional Theory and Arabic
Ahmed Moutaouakil put the modern linguistic theories (especially the pragmatically or functionally oriented ones) to practical use in the description and the explanation of the structure and use of Arabic (Standard and colloquial). His mastery of Functional Grammar helped him describe and explain linguistic phenomena from a pragmatic-functional point of view.
Under his supervision, the Group of Research in Pragmatics and Functional Linguistics (GREPLIF) focused on the description of Arabic language and its colloquial forms, mainly Moroccan Arabic, Egyptian Arabic, Hassaniyya and Berber as well as on the applicability of Functional Grammar in other fields such as language teaching, translation, language pathology and computational linguistics.
3.3.2. Functionally Oriented Linguistics and Arab Traditional Linguistic Thought
At the beginning of his scientific career, he proposed a methodology for ‘re-reading’ and evaluating the Arab Traditional Linguistic Thought by comparing it with modern pragmatically / functionally oriented linguistic theories including mainly Greimas Semiotics, Generative Semantics, Speech Acts Theory, Functional Syntax, Systemic Grammar and Functional Grammar.

5. PARCOURS SCIENTIFIQUE :
5.1. REALISATIONS
